Summary: Laueocerasus officinalis Roem. (Syn: Prunus laurocerasus) is distributed especially in the Karadeniz Region in Turkey. This plant is evergreen, its fruits are very rich in compounds. Three cultivars (Laueocerasus officinalis cv. "Angustifolia", Laueocerasus officinalis cv. "Globigemmis", Laueocerasus officinalis cv. "Oxygemmis") a wild form of this species are determined on the basis of morphological and biochemical features. Because of the hardship morphological and biochemical methods to determine and differentiate other possible cultivars, we used genetic approach. Here, we also studied to show whether the designation made according to morphological and biochemical characters is genetically true. The phylogenetical relationship among three cultivars and one wild form were studied using random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers. The cluster analysis of the data obtained with fourteen random primers differantiated cultivars and the wild form. The polymorphisms obtained by RAPD among the cultivars and the wild form confirmed previous classification. Keywords: Laurocerasus officinalis, RAPD, Cultivars, Cluster analysis.
