Summary:

Oberea linearis (Coleoptera: Cerambycidae) is very serious pest of hazelnut in Turkey. Up to now, there is no effective biological control against this pest around the world.

The aim of this study is to determine microbial flora of the Oberea linearis and find out an opportunistic pathogen to use are possible biological control agent against this pest. For this purpose, Oberea linearis larvae were collected from Trabzon and Giresun hazelnut fields. The microbial flora of this pest and the microbial potential of bacterial isolates were determined.

As a result, 13 different bacteria were isolated from Oberea linearis larvae. Nine of these bacteria determined and characterized at species level and four of them characterized at genus level. In this study, we determined morphological, physiological and biochemical properties, metabolic enzyme profiles by API20E and Phoenix 1000A panel test systems. 16S rRNA gene sequence analysis was also performed to determine isolates at molecular level. The isolates were identified as Acinetobacter calcoaceticus, Enterobacter aerogenes, Pseudomonas sp., Flavobacterium sp., Microbacterium sp., Enterobacter agglomerans, Xanthomonas sp., Pseudomonas sp., Pseudomonas putida, Stenotrophomonas sp., Enterobacter cancerogenus., Stenotrophomonas maltophilia, Serretia marcescens.

65 % insectisidal activity was determined with Serretia marcescens against Oberea linearis.
