Summary:

In this study, skeletal muscle protein bands of the R. macrocnemis species from five populations, R. camerani species from three populations and R. holtzi species from one population in Turkey were compared by SDS-PAGE (Sodium Dodecyl Sulphate-Poly Acrylamide Gel Electrophoresis). Totally 41 adult (22 females and 19 males) R. macrocnemis specimens, 27 adult (13 females and 14 males) R. camerani specimens and 9 adults (5 females and 4 males) R. holtzi specimens were used in SDS-PAGE characterization. The first and second groups (populations of R. macrocnemis and R. camerani) had 32 homologous protein bands whereas the third group (population of R. holtzi) had 33 bands. It was shown that the third group had one additional and unique bands. The results of this study show that among the studied populations of Anatolian Mountain Frogs, there were no biochemically differences between the number of skeleton muscle bands of Rana macrocnemis and Rana camerani and Rana holtzi was differ from the other mountain frogs in point of one protein band number.
