Summary: A microsporidium species detected from Poplar leaf beetle (Crepidodera aurata (Marsham); Coleoptera: Chrysomelidae) which cause important damage in poplar trees inour country and worldwide was characterized in this study. The adults were studied in different 10 locality between the years 2013 – 2014. Fresh preparations were dissected andexamined under the light microscope with magnifications 40x-1000x. Isolat 1 dimensions were measured as 3.66-5.66 x 1.35-2.22 m and isolat 2 2.44-3.55 x 1.25-1.55 m in freshpreparations dissected. Infection was observed in many tissues and organs such as glands, malpighian tubules, intestine of host and the life cycle of the microsporidian.Ultrastructural features of the pathogen were determined with electron microscopy. According to ultrastructural studies on pathogen spore; this pathogen is monocharyotic andit has 8 polar filament, 120-125 nm spore wall thickness and 80-95 nm polar filament dimension. The infection was detected in 7 out of 10 different localities which samplingfound that the rate of infection was found to be 25 percent in some populations. İt is given for the first time for the literature of the world that a characterization and distribution of microsporidia pathogen which causes diseases in natural populations of C. aurata in thisthesis.
