Summary:

      Wastewater, which causes bad smell with its red-brown colour, fat, meat, offal pieces, and with its other bloody contents is the product of slaughter and other processes in the slaughterhouse. This type of wastewater contains great amount of fat and grease, COD, BOD, VSS, and SS. Therefore, slaughterhouse wastewater leads to environmental problems around the places where it is discharged and collected. In this study, composite sample were taken from 3rd and 6th sewerage at different times with two-hour intervals in Trabzon Manicipality Slaughterhouse and filtered with gland. Then, these samples were analysed in order to detect some wastewater parameters such as movement, temperature, pH, BOD5, COD, SS, VSS, fat and grease, chloroform, NH4, NH4-N, NO2, NO2- N, NO3, NO3-N, NT, PO4, PO4-P, P2O5. Consequently, characteristics of Trabzon Municipality slaughterhouse were tried to determined.

      As a result of sample analysis, it has been found that wastewater from Trabzon Manicipality Slaughterhouse has to be purified before discharged. Therefore, under laboratory conditions faculitative purificativeness researches were conducted in 10, 20, 350C temperatures. At the end of the experiments, the highest purification productivity rate was 89.6% after faculitative purification fulfilled in 350C degree.
