Summary: SETTLEMENTS NEAR TRABZON AİRPORT In recent years, environmental pollutions have increased depending on the increase in world population and the development of technology. These pollutions are caused by workings of many sectors including aviation. Air transportation has many benefits forpeople and the economy. However, aircraft activities in an airport have also negative effects on surround area, due to noise and gas emissions. The increase of aircraft activitieshas caused in increases of airport and aircraft noise although more silent aircrafts have been developed depending on the technological developments. Therefore the effects on thesettlements in the vicinity of airports have reached to high levels. In this study, noise and air shock levels caused by aircraft activities and their impacts on Konaklar, Yalı andAdnan Kahveci neighborhoods settled near Trabzon Airport and social discomfort levels were investigated and results and suggestions were presented. In the scope of this study, inspections and observations have been carried out on the airport area and a total of the three locations were selected in different distances (300 m,550 m, 620 m) to the airport. In these three stations, noise and air shock that occurred after the aircraft activities were measured over a period between 05.10.2006 and 02.10.2007.The obtained 84 measurements were then transferred into the computer aided data assessment unit and were grouped by noise and air shock base according to stations anddistances. Statistical analyses of the data were also carried out. Noise and air shock levels were found to be above the maximum levels. The findings have shown that the mostseverely affected settlement was Adnan Kahveci Neighborhood. Poll studies were also carried out parallel to measurements. At the end of pollstudies, discomfort levels of people living in settlement centers near the airports were high. Noise and air shock levels and poll results have been investigated by being comparedmutually and applicable control suggestions were presented such as night flying restriction, using sound barriers and using insulation on the buildings near the airport.Key Words: Sound, Noise, Air Shock, Airport Noise, Aircraft Noise |
