Summary: In this study, it has been statistically analyzed the relation between air pollutants and some meteorological parameters for Trabzon urban. The SPSS code has been used in the statistical linear regression analysis as daily mean values of SO2 and PM of the five different heating seasons (2006-2007, 2007-2008, 2008-2009, 2009-2010 and 2010-2011) of six months (November-April) have been considered as dependent variables while daily mean values of pressure, temperature, humidity, rainfall, wind speed and wind direction have been considered as independent variables. The binary regression equations have been established between each meteorological parameter and the air pollutants and the multiple regression equations have been established between the all meteorological parameters and the air pollutants. These equations give the variation of the air pollutants depending on the meteorological parameters and levels of relations between the air pollutants and the meteorological parameters. According to the results of regression analysis; wind speed, relative humidity, and low-pressure show lowering effect on the air pollutants concentrations and high-pressure, temperature show an increasing effect, while rainfall has no effect on the air pollutants. Wind direction which reduces the pollutant concentrations is rarely seen in Trabzon urban and hence the air pollutant concentrations are slightly affected by wind direction. These results show that to reduce and control of air pollution in Trabzon urban, some essential studies and new approaches should be done. In addition, air pollution must be taken as an important parameter in the studies of newly planning building areas of Trabzon urban and urban planning.
