Summary: The fishing profession is one of the most dangerous occupations in the world. Security on fishing vessels has different interactions, including human, machine and environmental factors. If there is a fault in any of these interactions, a security problem may occur. The accidents resulting from these security problems can lead to loss of life and property, thus it is very important to detect and prevent the causes of accidents. In this study, unreported job accidents occurred in motor fishing vessels with full length of 12 m and above in the Eastern Black Sea region between 2000 and 2018 were investigated. All the results and findings of the study were obtained based on surveys. Bayes Network method, which has been applied frequently in the literature in recent years, has been used in the calculation of marine accident probabilities. The most important Bayesian node in man-overboard accidents is the non-compliance of the work site, which is the environmental internal factor. In the hit by object and jamming accidents, the most important prerequisite for the root factors are carelessness and non-compliance with the fishing gear. As a result of the study, recommendations were made for the reasons of accidents and preventions which should be focused on.
