Summary:

      The increasing demand for mobile communication services without a corresponding increase in RF spectrum allocation motivates the need for new techniques to improve spectrum utilization. The SDMA and adaptive antenna array are two techniques that shows real promise for increasing spectrum efficiency. In this research, we investigate the architecture of adaptive array and the performance of different adaptive array algorithms, based on training sequence, used in adaptive arrays. Two novel approaches are tried to develop to improve the performance of LMS in these algorithms. MATLABTM simulation test bed is created to compare the performance of these two novel approaches. It is observed from the simulation results that the former one does not provide increased performance for LMS, but the latter one significantly makes its working range larger and increase its convergence rate.
