Summary:

In cell planning the most important problem is the optimization of cell sizes and base station transmitter powers. In this study, there are some factors which must be examined. In this thesis a research has done for this factors.

While we are realizing our optimization, fundamentally we take up traffic analysis condition in another words access technics, the geographic conditions and population distribution of the optimization area. We examined TDMA+FDMA and CDMA systems as access technics. In this study, Okumura-Hata model was used for the calculation of path loss. Also the antenna situations which play an important role in this optimization, are examined. For different 3 antenna types the needed C/I is calculated and N parameter is determined for this C/I value. By doing these operations we can obtain optimization results and can draw the figures for urban, suburban and rural environments.

From the results it is understood that all two trafic systems have superiority to each other dependent on used parameters. It must be behaved sensitively in population and area information needed for all 3 regions. This sensitivity will increase the realism and reliability of the results.
