Summary:

In this study, efficiency measurement of renewable energy sources of Turkey and other European countries was made with the help of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) and Stochastic Boundary Analysis (SSA). Although these two methods are fundamentally different from each other, they are frequently used in efficiency analysis. Super Efficiency Data Envelopment Analysis (SE-DEA) was also included in the study because a clear ranking could not be made between DEA and decision units. The share of renewable energy consumption as input in primary energy consumption, primary energy consumption and CO2 emissions; A model was created by using renewable energy production and Gross Domestic Product (GDP) as output. The data covering the years 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2021 for the input and output variables are taken from the reports published by the World Bank and British Petroleum in recent years. Efficiency analysis of renewable energy sources was conducted for 20 Decision-Making Units (DMU) for 2018-2019, pre-pandemic, and 2020-2021, pandemic process. As a result of the analysis, comments were made about the renewable energy status of DMUs and whether the pandemic affected renewable energy production. It is aimed to contribute to the literature by using 3 different methods as DEA, SE-DEA and SSA for the efficiency analysis for the use of renewable energy sources.
