Summary:

In this study, the field dependence of flux-pinning induced magnetostriction in type II superconducting samples having infinetly long slab and cylinder geometries was investigated theoretically in the framework of all critical state models. In this modelling study, the basic equation derived by Ikuta et al. (1993) was used to compute the magnetostriction in slab geometry. The basic equation derived by Johansen (1999) was also used for infinetly long cylinder. The study of Ikuta at al. (1994) for the field dependence of the magnetostriction in slab geometry employing three critical state models was verified by our calculations. In addition, calculations using the Yasukochi model, one of the most important critical state models, was performed in this study. So far, the field dependence of magnetostriction for cylinder samples have not been done in detailed theoretical investigation. By using the most important four critical state models, the field dependence of both HTS slab and cylinder samples was studied in detail.

The calculation results were compared to the experimental data published in the literature. It was shown that the published experimental data can be reproduced by our calculations selecting the convenient model and parameters.
