Summary:

      In recent years, polymer – based composites are frequently used the construction of

boats which are especially below 10 meter length because of the features of its lightness

      and corrosion resistance. Generally the tubes which are full of air are used in producted

composite boats and these tubes frequently face the matter of deflation due to deficiency of

      air. For this purpose, it was aimed to use tubes which are filled with polyethylene foam as

an alternative to air – filled tubes and at this study and application that would be a solution

      to this problem was carried out.

At this study, initially it was explained to general information about composite

      materials and the using of composite materials at industry of boat construction. Having

been given information about general production stages of composite boats, it was passed

      the phase of boat production.

For thesis, it was constructed a composite boat that is 6 meter length and it was used

      tube that is filled with polyethylene foam at this boat. A series experiment was carried out

polyethylene foam material which was used production of tube and polyethylene

      composite material which was used in construction of boat after complation of boat.

Consequence of these experiments it was obserued that using polyethylene tube provides

      extra impact resistance against the boat if we compare the situation of using air – filled

tube and it provides advantages since it enables boat to complete its destination when there

      is a damage at the tube part compared with air – filled tubes.
