Summary:

Ships are marine vessels that are produced in shipyards and have very complicated processes in the production phase. The ship must be successfully completed by performing different tests on many areas in each site of the ship from the very beginning to the end of production. Sea trial, the last stage of these tests was examined in this thesis. Firstly, what has to be done has been examined in order to be able to apply the sea trial more regularly and to shorten the total time spent for the tests before the cruise. The sea trial improvement process model obtained within this scope was turned into questionnaires and opinions were received from the experts in the field. As a result it is understood that improvement process model has a high level of positive contribution to the sea trial. Secondly, tests performed in the sea trial are listed together with the duration of each test. In order to be used in SIMIO programme cruise work flow diagram which cover all of the tests and applied under normal conditions is constituded and entered to the programme. However, here is accepted that weather and sea conditions are suitable for cruising and no failure has been seen during the period from the beginning of the tests to the end. As a result, it was understood that the total cruising time was 28,0989 hours. The new diagram obtained by making improvements on the cruise work flow has been transferred to the programme. In this case, it has been seen that the total time spent to complete the tests was 25,3567 hours shorter by 2.75 (9,76%) hours.
