Summary:

Due to the high production costs of vessels and gradual increase of these costs, analyzes that can be done with computational fluid dynamics have gained great importance in the shipbuilding industry. Most problems can be avoided by examining the analysis of computational fluid dynamics performed prior to the start of shipbuilding. These analyzes make it possible to develop the product before production. Due to the changes that can be made, it is possible to increase the quality of the product by avoiding costly, wasted work and loss of time.

In this thesis, the analysis of the propeller, rudder and hull interaction of the scientific research ship named KTU DENAR-1 was carried out with computational fluid dynamics. KTU DENAR-1 is designed and equipped for navigation and scientific studies with the aim of performing near coastal voyage. Hull, propeller, rudder, hull-rudder, and hull-rudder-propeller models were investigated hydrodynamically in terms of their interactions with each other. Computational fluid dynamics analyses were performed using ANSYS FLUENT 16.0 software and the mesh required for the analyzes was constructed using ANSYS ICEMCFD 16.0 software.
