Summary:

In this study, roll motion which is effective on the transverse stability of the Black Sea type fishing vessels was investigated. This study was carried out with reference to the structure of the steel section of the fishing ship and the structural elements. The weights and centers of gravity of these modeled structures are calculated. Then weights and centers of gravity were calculated taking into consideration the locations of the other equipment weights that are found on a fishing vessel. The effect of weight distribution on stability and ship motions was examined considering different materials and loading conditions. The fishing vessels are constructed with a superstructure steel that effects stability remarkably. In this study, variable weight of the superstructure was examined by selecting different materials such as aluminum and steel. Stability of the ship is investigated comparatively considering different loading conditions. The roll motion was also examined using a nonlinear rolling motion equation. The results of the linear and the nonlinear equations were compared. Also, the results of pitching motion, roll motion and heave motions were analyzed by strip theory. It is aimed to contribute to the preliminary designs of the shipbuilders working in the region.
