Summary:

      The object of this study is that whether the yield line theory, which is an effective method widely used for the slabs made of ordinary concrete, is the suitable to be employed not for the reinforced concrete slabs made of high strength concrete. The behavior of high strength reinforced concrete slabs with different boundary conditions and sizes was investigated in comparison with ordinary reinforced concrete slabs. Additionally, the behavior of high strength reinforced concrete slabs having reinforcement with different spacing was studied. In the work, it was studied not only the behavior of reinforced concrete slabs, but it was slabs varying in sizes with steel fibers of different ratios also investigated.

The results obtained indicated that the yield line analyses can be conveniently employed in the analysis of high strength reinforced concrete slabs. This method, however, seems not to be applicable to the concrete slabs having steel fibers as the steel fibers in the concrete slabs do not at all stressed up to their yield capacity.

      The work consists of five chapters. General information associated with the study is given in the first chapter. Experimental work is given in the second chapter of study. Test results along with discussions work presented in the third chapter. The conclusions obtained from the study were outlined in the fourth chapter. This is followed by the final chapter containing a reference list.
