Summary:

In this experimental study, the behavior of buckling restrained braces with precast elements has been contemplated. Many different materials like reinforced concrete, steel fiber reinforced, polypropylene fiber reinforced concretes, polyethylene and polyamide sheets as buckling restraining materials have been used. Popular and marketable steel profiles as braces were used. In this study, at buckling restrained braces, steel fiber reinforced, polypropylene fiber reinforced concretes, polyethylene and polyamide sheets and lirefa materials as a state of the art were used.

The results of this research can be used at construction and designing of steel structures at earthquake areas, also for strengthening and rehabilitation of existing structures specially hospitals and necessary buildings after major earthquakes.

The work consists of five chapters. General information associated with the study is given in the first chapter. Experimental works are given in the second and test results along with discussions presented in the third chapter. Conclusions obtained from the study were outlined in the fourth chapter. This is followed by the final chapter containing a reference list.

The results obtained indicated that the application of steel fiber reinforced, polypropylene fiber reinforced concretes, and polyethylene and polyamide sheets as precast buckling restraining members can increase the ductility and energy absorbing capacity of steel structures.
