Summary:

During earthquakes, liquefaction, that occurs mainly at saturated soil layers, causes enormous damage to Engineering structures. Because of increasing human population, places which are not suitable for settlement in the past and have high earthquake risk are needed to use and liquefaction phenomena, witnessed during old earthquakes, and caused a lot of researches to begin about this topic.

In this research, Liquefaction events occurred mainly at sand and sandy soil during earthquake was investigated. After introducing main components of liquefaction, a computer program, evaluating potential liquid transformation of soil based on Standard Penetration Test (SPT) blow counts and calculating EPOLLS geotechnical parameters was prepared and it is called “EPOLIQAN”.

Before all else, how liquefaction occurs in soil was mentioned and descriptions related to the topic were given. What is more, methods that are used to evaluate liquefaction potential were explained. These methods were classified under two topic.

a) Main methods evaluating liquefaction potential

      b) Assisting methods evaluating liquefaction potential

Furthermore, taking measures to prevent liquefaction and application methods of this measures were explained.
