Summary:

The energy consumption has been accepted as the most important criterion of the

countries’s developing levels. It has been increasing constantly and it has been continuing to

increase in the future too.

It’s a fact that we have to consump energy to protect the civilization level which we

have and provide the continuing of comfort life. But, Turkey has been having difficulty in

getting to the energy demand that is increasing by reason of improvement, increase in

population and industrialization. To get this demand, it is necessary to be used the present

energy sources effectively.

In this thesis study, the costs at the electric production with the definitions, potentials,

of energy sources have been researched. The gross electric energy amount which can be

produced from water potential in the East Black Sea Region has been calculated. Beside;

the present calculated gross electric energy potential has been compared with the

consumption potential in the coming years at the certain proportions.

At the end of this thesis, Turkey’s the present hydroelectric energy potential, the need

of electric energy in the future, solutions, results and suggestions which can be done have

been explained.
