Title of the Thesis: Analysis of Double Deck Cable Stayed Bridges With Different Cable Layouts
Level: M.Sc.

Summary:

Cable stayed bridges are prefered to passing middle and long spaces entire world

because of their süperior load-carrying capacity, low cost, aesthetic appearance and short

construction time. Modern cable stayed bridges are constructed three different cable layout

such as fan type, harp type and semi-harp type. Because of the increasing vehicle

population, everyday much more raodway to be needed. Hence, new cable stayed bridge

projects are designed with two or three decks instead of wide decks. For these reasons

above mentioned, there is a research about double deck cable stayed bridges in this study.

In the first part of the study is mentioned historical evolution and structural

components of cable stayed bridges and previous researches which related with this study.

Especially talked about features of important cable stayed bridges which was built in 20.

century for historical evolution. General informations are given about cables, decks and

towers which are main structural components of cable stayed bridges. Lastly, mentioned

about general and practical calculation of orthotropic decks which often use in bridge

projects at last years.

The preliminary design stage of three dimensional double deck cable stayed bridge

models is handled and cross sections of components of models are given in the second part.

In addition to this, loads which apply different cable layout models and geometry of

models are presented in this chapter.

with different cable layouts are analyzed acting static and dynamic loads with SAP2000

used for time–history analysis.

Finally, obtained results are summarized in the last part of the study and differences

between cable stayed bridge models are presented.
