Summary:

Asphalt is the basic material which is using for binding the aggregate in asphalt road pavement mixtures. Petroleum origin asphalt obtains from the sediments in the bottom of the distillation tower. Beside that way asphalt can be obtain from the asphalt lakes.

Countries which can not produce oil need to export the oil from the other country because of obtain asphalt from oil.

At that point it is necessary to remind that Turkey is not a country which can be produce oil and export nearly 20 million tons of oil. Turkey is not a rich country for that reason it is really necessary to solve this problem.

It is necessary to remind a material from Şırnak in the Southeast Anatolia called as Asphaltite , which is similar of coal and used as a coal will be a solution of the asphalt problem of Turkey by its asphalt content.

In this study asphaltite asphalt and refinery asphalt compared by physical and chemical properties and investigate asphaltite asphalt usage.

In preliminary studies asphaltite asphalt separate from the asphaltite by the strong solvent like toluene and in K.T.U Chemical Department laboratory made IR tests on asphaltite asphalt and refinery asphalt. There are some similarities in both sample IR test result and this make us think that there will be physical similarities.
