Summary:

Usage of steel as a construction material has a long history. Reductions of cross-sections of profiles that are used in steel buildings cause some twisting problems. This situation can be solved with stabilization connections. Steel constructs provide advantages in regards of use space-saving and strength for places like hospitals, schools and super markets where the human mass is dense. As buildings get higher, the factors like earthquakes and wind force which affects them become important to be noticed. Increasing of durability against those factors can be achieved by using steel cross elements. In this work, in regards to the reasons and facts above, a research has been made about differences between steel cross elements.

In the first section of this work, general information of historical progress of steel has been given as well as information about steels components as a building material and previous works that had been made about this subject.

In the second part, 3D building models designed in accordance to the aims of this research have been used. On these models, pre-scaling models of the constructions with selective steel cross-braced elements and without steel cross-elements have been made and cross-braced of the elements used in the models have been presented. Behaviors of the models having different steel cross-element have been investigated under the effect of horizontal loads.

At third section, an evaluation of the results has been made and differences between various steel constructs with different cross steel elements are being presented.
