Summary:

Dams, which are one of the most important beneficial tools to human being, are subject to study not only with their benefits but also with their effects to population, natural life and environment. Today, the evaluations for dams are being made in terms of not only their cost of construction and economic return but also in terms of the environmental, social, and cultural effects of the dams projected to be constructed.

In this study, cost of the environmental impacts of the Sarıgüzel Dam and HEPP projected with a capacity of 103 MW have been analyzed. Technical data of the project examined in accordance with the scope of the geographical, geological, demographic and social data.

Aim of the thesis is stated and dam-environment relationship is discussed in the overview section. Technical information is given about the dam and HEPP and socio-economic situation of the region is analyzed in this part.

In the symptoms section, the loss of land costs, costs of crop production losses, potential loss of life costs, GHG emissions, costs of the resettlement of people, and costs of relocation of the transportation routes are calculated for analyzing the cost of environmental impact.
