Summary: In this thesis, dynamic characteristics of balanced cantilever reinforced concrete highway bridges are determined using analytically and experimentally methods. For this purpose, analytical and experimental studies are done on Berta Bridge which was built by balanced cantilever method. Finite Element Method (FEM) and Operational Modal Analysis (OMA) which considers ambient vibration data were used in analytical and experimental studies, respectively. This thesis consists of four chapters. In the first chapter of the thesis; after importance of structural dynamic characteristics studies which have been performed on this subject, aim and content of thesis, balanced cantilever concrete reinforced bridges, analytical and experimental modal analysis methods and finite element updating methods are mentioned, respectively. In the second chapter of the thesis, after general overview of Berta Bridge which was selected as application, analytical dynamic characteristics are obtained by using the finite element model of bridge. Ambient vibration tests are conducted to bridge and experimental dynamic characteristics are determined. Finite element model of the bridge was updated considering by material properties, boundary conditions and other variations. In the third chapter, obtained results and suggestions are submitted. In the last chapter, the references used in this thesis are presented. As a conclusion, it is emphasized that Operational Modal Analysis method based on the ambient vibrations can be used safely to determine the dynamic characteristics, to update the finite element models, and to monitor the structural health of reinforced concrete highway bridges constructed with balanced cantilever method. Key Words : Operational Modal Analysis, Dynamic Characteristics, Balanced Cantilever Concrete Bridges, Finite Element Model Updating, Structural Health Monitoring of Bridge.
