Summary:

Waste recycling, which has a very important place both in the world and in our country, has become not a necessity but an obligation nowadays. Especially for the asphalt recycling that contains 96% aggregate, it has become of great importance both to protect natural resources and to reduce current deficit somewhat by decreasing the purchase and use of bitumen as a country foreign-dependent on petroleum. While studies conducted in foreign countries oblige recycling as law and regulations, they also encourage and support practitioners in a lot of ways; our country is still new on this issue, thus applications and researches must be increased.

In terms of the general characteristics of asphalt recycling material, usage of these materials and recycling the material in the best way possible, reclaimed asphalt pavement (RAP) in terms of economy investigate at the same time. In the study, a typical road section was designed and the cost was calculated, the same road section was designed by adding different recycling rates each time on binder and bituminous base forms and the profits per ton obtained from this material based on these rates were calculated. Clearer results were obtained from calculations by taking operating costs into consideration based on the type of recycle. Another subject of the study, the optimum distance that the recycling material can be transported to the facility for recovery was also searched. KGMs transportation formulas were used and by way of the distances found, the areas that asphalt plants were effective in set up base were found approximately. Regional asphalt transport prices which make up an important amount in asphalt works were compared.
