Summary:

To serve the purpose of their establishment in a healthy way, dams should be monitored periodically by geodetic or geotechnical methods. For this aim, in this thesis, geodetic deformation monitoring was conducted on the Deriner Dam, Turkey s highest double-curvature concrete arch dam, based on the GNSS measurements made within four periods between the years 2016 and 2017. The deformation network used in this thesis consisted of twelve reference and seven object points that were previously established by the DSI (The General Directorate of State Hydraulic Works). Each period was adjusted separately through the free adjustment method. The Huber method was used to eliminate any outliers in the correlated observations. The static (θ2-Criteria, IWST and LAS), kinematic (Kalman-filter) and dynamic (Kalman-filter) deformation models were utilized to detect the horizontal and vertical displacements. A dynamic model based on the Kalman-filter was also developed by considering the changes in the dam water level. It was observed that all the methods used resulted in similar displacements. It was also concluded that the changes in water level played a significant role in the movement of the dams. As expected, the greatest displacement was determined on the points that were in the middle of the dam crest. Another conclusion drawn from this thesis is that the geodetic measurements can be used to detect the dam displacements.
