| Summary: In Turkey there does not exist any interoperability infrastructure amongst public and private sectors and local governments. The recommended technology is Web services to implement Spatial Data Infrastructures (SDI) for achieving interoperability with SDI.
It is important to produce work economically in scope of SDI. It is also very important that to produce the elements of SDI fast and economically.
In this study, the aim is at implementation of web services with Free and Open Source (FOS) software which constitute the SDI. Spatial FOS software are examined in this study. The problems that occur while implementing the web services for application are defined. Current status of spatial FOS software are specified, advantages and disadvantages have been determined according to commercial software.
