Summary:

This study is a master thesis about detecting and monitoring of landslides in Havuzlu

village of Yusufeli district of Artvin province and Armutlu Neighbourhood of Savsat

district of Artvin province with using series of SAR (C-band) images of Sentinel-1

satellites acquired at different times. Landslides have been tried to be determined by

using persistant scatterer InSAR (PSInSAR) technique. There are many methods in the

PSInSAR technique and Stanford Method was preferred for this study. SNAP, StaMPS/MTI,

MATLAB, StaMPS Visualizer and QGIS softwares were used for all image processing,

analysis and visualization steps. With using PS (Permanent Scatter) points determined

by PSInSAR technique applied in the study areas, one-year surface deformations were

detected for both sites. In order to see the consistency of the determined mean deformation

velocities in the study conducted in the Havuzlu village, the results of the measurements

taken with the terrestrial methods at the same time interval with the SAR images were

compared with the PS deformations. As a result of this comparison, it was determined

that the deformation trends substantially coincide. Thus, using Sentinel-1 SAR images, it

was seen that regions with landslides can be monitored successfully with PSInSARtechnique.
