Summary:

With the rapid growth of the world population, the issue of meeting the indispensable needs of people such as air, water, food, shelter and energy, leaves us alone with the question of how more efficient and effective global resources can be used.

In the last twenty-five years, the development of Information Technologies triggered by the internet, especially by the internet, has brought the need for spatial and statistical knowledge of that geography to the highest level with the geography experienced in terms of individuals, private sector and non-governmental organizations as well as public institutions and organizations in the global world.

In this context, in addition to the existence of information, if this information is open to legal and technological access of real and legal entities within the framework of public and public benefit, machine readable, useable, updated and distributable, it will enable the public and private sector to produce innovative solutions in investment and planning.

In this study, the concept of open data was first tried to be explained, and then the major studies on open data were examined on an international and national basis. As a result, the aim of this course is to examine the possible impacts of open data on environmental impact assessment projects in Turkey by investigating the approach, process and point of view of open data concept
