Summary: The digital world, developing technology and economies based on information have made data a popular subject in recent times. The world is approaching data in a new ore frame. Access to data does not progress at the same rate with the increase in the amount of data. Although the amount of data increases, access to the data is not very easy. At this point, the world has revealed the concept of open data. Open data; The data is published online and published in formats suitable for re-use without any restrictions. The public sector collects large amounts of data from various fields while performing public duties. Most of the data is spatial. Many local governments around the world believe that their data can be used as fuel for innovation and technology. However, researchers, academics and private companies have developed many new products and applications with the contribution of public spatial data. Within the scope of the study, open data portals of local governments around the world were examined, and applications developed with published data are described as examples. The data used in the application were examined with the technical detail, economic perspective, personal data perspective and database perspective of the application. What are the spatial data of local governments to offer to Turkey and from this data; researchers, academics and citizens are explained with examples. Spatial data that can be presented as open data are also evaluated in terms of personal data.
