Summary:

Especially after the Industrial Revolution, the increase in anthropogenic greenhouse gases accumulating in the atmosphere causes an increase in temperatures and therefore global climate change. Within the scope of adaptation and struggle with climate change, all countries work to determine the amount of greenhouse gas they produce and to take the necessary measures in this regard. With this thesis, it is aimed to monitor and scrutinize the geographical distribution of the amount of carbon dioxide emitted due to the consumption of electricity, natural gas, solid fuel, petroleum and liquefied petroleum gases (LPG) in Turkey in 2020, on the maps produced using Geographical Information Systems (GIS) and value-by-alpha mapping. For this purpose, the consumption data of 2020 were collected from certain sources, necessary calculations were made and CO2 (t CO2e/Year) emission data were obtained. Then, value-by-alpha maps, where these data can be evaluated together with Turkey s population data for 2020, were produced with the help of GIS software. The resulting maps were analyzed and the positive and negative aspects of the value-by-alpha mapping method were discussed. It has been determined on the maps that which provinces have more or less carbon emissions according to the amount of population and the reasons for these have been investigated. Key Words: Climate change, Carbon emission, Value-by-alpha map, Geographical Information System, Turkey
