Summary:

      Computer has became a part of daily life for 15-20 years. As with other discipline. Computer became a very useful tool in cartography. For this purposes, all operations which are on progress and/or are planned for future have been reorganised in this respect. But the products of previous works need to be transferred to computer. Therefore new instrument orthography and application technique have been developed to establish digital data base or computer environment for linear maps produced with different techniques and methods. Thus all information in linear and point format can be transferred to a computer environment day means of an instrument called digitizer.

In this study, techniques are used for transfering of 1/1000 scaled graphical maps to the computer environment. Necessary hardware and software properties have been discussed.

      Accuracy, economy, productivity obtained from digitising and present application methods have been examined in the view of technical regulations by giving examples.

In the first chapter, map, digitising and transformation have been explained. In the second chapter, information about of the application has been given. In the third chapter, the results which is obtained from application have been evaluated. In the last chapter, the results which is obtained from this study have been explained and the recommendations for increasing digitising sensitivity have been suggested.
