Summary:

Removal of Methylene Blue and Congo Red by Using Lignocellulosic Materials from Aqueous Solution by Adsorption Technique

Pollution of dyestuffs which cause various industrial factories effects negatively environment, and threaten especially human health. At present time, these types of environmental problems form an important situation, and thus there are reports on this subject. Pollution of dyestuffs can be removed by various methods and adsorption method is known as the most effective. In many studies, various adsorbents are used for removal of dyestuffs. Cost and adsorption capacity of used adsorbents are a considerable factor especially in developing countries.

In this work, removal of dyestuff by adsorption method with cotton-based industrial residues was investigated. Adsorption capacities of adsorbents which were used for this aim were determined. Effects of particle dimension, pH, initial dye concentration and temperature on adsorption were investigated and the amount of adsorbed dyestuff increased with increasing these parameters. Kinetic studies showed that the adsorption presses obeyed the intra-particle diffusion kinetic model. In addition to, obtained results were evaluated according to Freundlich and Langmiur isotherms.
