Summary:

The circular sawing is the most widely employed machining method in processing /cutting of natural stones. Diamond impregnated segments performing sawing function of a saw blade are the structures consisted of a metal matrix and the diamond particles dispersed randomly in the matrix. The segments are placed on the periphery of a steel core by the high temperature or laser welding methods. Metal matrix is formed as an alloy of various elements and a matrix structure including Co, Ni and Cu-Sn is frequently used. Circular saws with diamond impregnated segments provide lower error rates up to 0.01 % by means of computer control when compared to other cutting/machining systems. The method has advantages in capital and operating cost over the competing methods.

This study was aimed at determining of the optimum operating parameters for circular sawing of three different granites from Eastern Black Sea Region. In the research, the blade peripheral speed, cutting speed, cutting depth and water flow variables were tested.

As a result of the research optimum values for the worked variables were defined. Additionally, the effects of the change of the variables worked were analyzed. As a result of the analyses of variation of the variables showed that the obtained results were found consistent with those found in the literature.
