Summary: Cuttability prediction of characteristics of rocks to be excavated in laboratory is the main scope of mechanization field and it depends on mainly predicting the specific energy. There are some different methods for predicting cuttability in laboratory. Some of them are; full scale linear cutting rig and small scale linear cutting rig. With the lack of these rigs, researchers try to find alternative methods. Main scope of this experimental work is to investigate onto physical, mechanical and cuttability characteristics of some rocks and ore obtained from Eastern Black Sea Region and to make a comparative study of physical, mechanical and cuttability characteristics of this rock and ore samples. Also another objective of this work is to find alternative ways of assigning cuttability characteristics. Thereafter physical and mechanical experiments, cuttability experiments (small scale linear cutting test and Cerchar abrassivity index) have been conducted. As a result of this experimental work there have been found significant relationship between Schmidt hammer rebound value (R) and rebound coefficient (Q). Q and R value has been found as the most sensitive method for assignment of cuttability characteristics. With the multilayer linear regression method and by using of physical, mechanical and cuttability experimental results, specific energy, cutting force, normal force and Cerchar abrassivity index has been calculated. For the occasions when there is only one parameter, here is offered 15 equations for cuttability prediction. |
