Summary:

Pneumatic tire is commercially very first successfull application of composite materials, and also represents one of the most formidable challenges in structural design due to its complex material behaviour and relations with components working with. During the analysis all the structural components of radial tire separately considered in order to take their material behaviour and load carrying characteristics into account. Material properties of carcass and belt structure are calculated by equivalent material model. For rubber parts of the model, Mooney-Rivlin material model was used. Total Lagrangian formulation was used in the model due its advantage at large deforming composite structures. Tire-rim and tire-road contact problems were modelled as quasi-static frictionless contact problem. Rim and road were assumed to behave like rigid material.
