Summary:

Because of having complex configurations, it is hard to predict the dynamic behaviours of the rotors analyticaly. Thus, using powerfull approach methods such as finite element is developed for analysing the system. Finite Element Method enables both time saving and economy for solving the equations by enabling reduction in the system equations.

In this study, the dynamic behaviours of some rotor systems were solved by the finite element method. In the first chapter, some literature studies in the field of rotordynamics, the kind of rotor types and computational techniques were summarized. In addition, the elements of rotor systems were discussed, their set of equations were written and the solutions of the system equations were explained. In the second chapter, the application procedures were given for two different softwares used and four different types of rotor problems in consideration were explained. In the third chapter, the solutions of the problems were done, and the natural frequencies and the mode shapes were given. It was seen that the results obtained from both softwares were very close.
