Summary:

The main purpose of the presented study is to determine the pressure ratio for any given diesel engine at a reasonably accuracy, which should be supplied by turbocharger, which will make the most appropriate improvement on engine performance characteristics. According to this purpose, two computer code, which were depended on two different models, have been developed.

Here, two different models have been used for the calculations of turbocharged diesel engine cycles. The first one of these models bases on the single zone burning model. In this model, the events at real engine cycles, has been taken to consideration by using some experimental datas and empirical equations. The approximations applied in this model, for intake and exhaust strokes, has been also used in the second model which bases on the two zone burning model. The second method is two zone burning model, which is depended on the first law of thermodynamics and in which the cosine burning formulation is used.
