Summary:

      In this study, the effects of using of twin spark-plugs in SI engines on engine performances have been investigated theoretically .

      For this purpose, by using two-zone quasi-dimensional spherical flame front approach, a thermodynamic model has been devloped. By using this model, the effects of varying spark-plugs location from center to cylinder wall on engine performances have been investigated and compared with the geometry having one spark-plug at the same locations.

      It has been determined that the geometry having centrally located spark-plug gives the best performances. If spark plug is located anywhere accept from center, the using of twin spark-plugs gives better performances.
