Summary:

From past to present, instead of the parts of the human body which cannot fulfill its expected functions, a variety of materials that serve the same aim are developed. Dental implants are the artificial parts which are widely used nowadays. In this thesis, it is studied to determine main factors in order to recover deficiency caused by totally edentulous and damaged mandibula by using lengths of implant abutment or chin plate material via the finite element method.

In this study, a dental prosthesis of actual patient was first screened by using optical scanning method. The structure of lower jaw bone suited to the obtained data was then created and the different damaged models were designed using this structure. The stress analysis was finally performed using finite element method to evaluate the recovery of damaged models by using new models designed using the different abutment length and prosthetic filling material under various loading conditions. The results showed that the ideal method to treat the damaged structures can be provided by using prosthetic material filling after comparing the obtained data from stress analysis with damaged and undamaged jaw bone under the same loading conditions.
