Summary: In this study, three dimensional flow fields around tall buildings with square cross sectional area and its derivatives which are created by applying the three different rates of corner modifications have been numerically investigated. Simulations have been carried out by using the Standard k-ɛ, RNG k-ɛ, Realizable k-ɛ and Standard k-ω turbulence models for Reynolds number of 3.5x105. The effects of geometrical differences on the flow fields have been examined with predicted flow fields, mean velocity and turbulence profiles and surface pressure distributions. Geometrical modifications effect the flow filed and especially pressure distributions. When the performances of turbulence models were evaluated, it is seen that RNG k-ɛ turbulence model exhibits a better agreement with experimental data. |
