      In the first section, basic concepts related to tourism have been given, and the potentials of the country have been evaluated with the discussion of the place of Turkey in Europe and in the world. Furthermore, the approaches and methods used in tourism planning have been studied in the literature. In the second section, the introduction of the boundaries of research field altered and the method of study used has been made.

      In the third section, findings related to the region of research have been presented and the interpretations of visual and numerical data based on the field of research have been made. In the fourth section, the suggestions concerned with the things which are required in order to develop the tourism peculiar to the region within the context of sustainability an to increase its positive effects on the urban/regional economy have been presented.
