Summary:

      House represents the beliefs, the customs, the socioeconomic and sociocultural structure of its resident and the society where the resident lives. In addition, it is one of the most important elements affected by the cultural shifts of the society. Because house represents the characteristics, the life style, the behaviors, the environmental preferences, the images, the time and place perceptions of the culture and the ethnic group that it serves, to the others with its design and equipment. Also it informs about the perceptions, the tendencies, the personal characteristics of its resident. It is concerned that furniture, an important element of house, are chosen with cultural influences and they are situated in house. A study for analyzing the influences of culture and its components in spatial organization and choosing furniture has been made for this purpose. In the study scope, living rooms and furniture in living rooms, that represent the house, have been analyzed. The study consists of 5 chapters: In the first chapter, culture and its components have been described and literature information about their influences to the places has been given. In the second chapter, the poll questions for determining culture and its components have been prepared within the literature study and also the houses concerned to belong to two different cultural groups, have been determined and the sample scope has been created. In the third and fourth sections, the obtained findings have been evaluated and it has been determined that the houses in the sample group belong to different cultural groups and different furniture have been preferred in the houses. In the final chapter, the influences of culture and its components to spatial organization and choosing furniture for house living rooms have been evaluated, the poll results have been commented, and the suggestions have been made.
