Summary: Factors as changing of traditional family structure by the force of modern living conditions, death of wife/husband, lack of social assurance or reduction of income level and security problem stemming from loneliness etc. complicate elderly people leading to live alone in their own homes. So, residential homes as being living spaces have been preferred by numerous reasons like living with people of the same age, having a social environment, getting out of the responsibilities as home care and menage, living in a more secure environment and utilizing from nursing services. Residential homes affect elders’ quality of life directly as well as meeting their requirements of social, psychological, economical, health and daily lives. In this sense, the quality of life (related to spaces) of the elders living in residential homes in Turkey was examined within this study. To this end, a model to determine the quality of life is developed by searching literature sources. Model consists of five dimensions: objective-personal, objective-physical, subjective- personal, subjective-physical and expectation.
