Summary:

Information technology played a very influential role in all aspects of life including culture, economy, politics, arts and science itself.

The purpose of this study is to prove that the worldview and the art building are interdependent and that they are the opposite but complementary sides of the same medallion. Therefore the aim of the study is to discern the recent concerns in various spheres of life; and to determine the basic changes in approaches to arts especially architecture, in so far as these changes are reflected in the syntactic and semantic solutions encountered in architectural applications.

Thus, this study can be considered as an interdisciplinary and interrelationary research.

In the first chapters, recent evolutions, which can be termed as postmodern understanding of society, religion, politics, economics and arts, with special emphasis on literature, are examined.

In the following chapters architectural outputs of the last there decades are studied in terms of their approach to geometry of plans, masses and grids, (main categories of which are taken as Euclidean, organic and their complex transformations and de-constructions) and concepts of balance, order, constancy, totality and unity. To be more specific, certain socio-morphological criteria that are traced throughout history and proposed by Gur, are sought in congruence with five main discernible trends in effect today: Ongoing modernism, late modernism (rational), late modernism (metaphoric), postmodernism (syntactic), postmodernism (semantic).

Trough rich examples it has been clearly and diligently demonstrated that the above pre-coding openly mirrors the basic differences in from giving in today’s architecture and that the postmodern architecture highly and strongly correlatives with postmodern values and thought.
