Summary:

      The Space Frame Structure System is one of the contemporary structure systems that have been arised due to the social and technologic developments in the 20th century. Besides the ability of covering the big openings, having the lots of architectural, structural, and economical advantages, it is a bold sign that, these systems will save their importance and will be preferred within the years. For these reasons, the space frame systems are selected as the subject of the study.

The target of this study, in which the space frame systems and their applications in Turkey are examined, is to introduce the system and its advantages; to orient an architect’s studies about the concept; and to maintain a source to whom to deal with this concept.

      

This study has five headlines; The General Information, The Acchieved Studies, The Findings, The Discussions, and The Results. In the General Information section of the study, either the history and the production systems, and advantages and disadvantages are mentioned informing about the space frame structures, besides the target and concept of this study . In the Achieved Studies section, the methods and the techniques which are used to examine sample constructions, and built by means of space frame concept of this study. In the Findings section, the data related to the sample constructions that are built by means of space frame structure are given.The reasons of findings, that are obtained from the examined sample structure are put into the sight under the Discussions headline.

      

At the end of this study, many important data are obtained such as: flat-plain space frame systems are more preferred than the other kinds of space frame structure; the system is mostly used in the roofs; the rectangular based pyramid is the most used type of modul; spheric shaped nodes are used for joints; the plain form and the modul type should be in harmony.
