Summary:

This study indicates that, it has negativeness for the user that every material (coating materials) can be used at every space where has every functionality, and the interior space, where was formed by this approach, has negative associations to its user by functional and especially semistic way. To put on the agenda of the disharmony of the architectural environment, to discuss on the scientific environment and to provide validity of findings, it has been tried to base the issue on scientific reasons by examining with an attended experiment in the scope of this research.

At the study's theoratical part, after a general introduction, the scope and borders of these issues have been defined, in addition, the aim of the study has been defined. Then, it has been emphasized on the subject of perception and interior space perception in addition to this. Place and importance of the functional and semantic dimensions of perceiving issues, colour and light that formed quality of surface, and place perception has been dealed at a broad frame.

As a result of the surveying subjects, it has been seen that the meaning of coating materials changed according to the function of the space and it was not received positively at the same degree by the users of spaces that had every kind of functionality. In addition, it is resulted that there was a different perception of user and architect and this differences resulted from the factor of architectural education.

After findings, examining and results, it has been defined what can be done in education and practice about this issue and suggestions for the researchers, who are interested in this issue, have been brought....
