Summary:

      The aim of this study is to evaluate energy efficiency of different types Windows alternatives, single, double and triple pane, in terms of data obtain from the developed winenergy 1.0 software and determine of appropriate window alternatives for Turkish climate regions.

In the first section, it is mentioned about the design criteria which effect energy efficient window design, and thermal transmittance coefficient, solar heat gain coefficient, shading coefficient, coolness index values are defined. These criteria need to be known for evaluation energy efficiency of windows in the best way. These values are called thermal performance criteria. The general information which need to be known while calculating these criteria are mentioned and different types single, double and triple pane Windows components are clarified.

      

In the final section of this study, three different kinds of window alternatives are selected from single, double and triple pane and PVC frame. These alternatives are used in reference building model and depending on areas and directions of windows is compared to effect yearly heating energy requirement of building.
