Summary:

The aim of this study is to investigated physical development of Sinop that is a

significant site center in the pre-Turk and Turk periods by means of historical resources.

This study covers three section.

In the first section, it is given general information about geography, political history

and monumental buildings of the city.

In the second section, physical structure of the city, in the Ancient, Byzantine,

Selcuklu, Commonplaces and Ottomon period, for each period, is introduced to benefit

from Şer’iyye register, tax register, foundation records, state annuals, travel books, visual

documents and monumental buildings. Monumental buildings and districts that are

determined from historical resources of the city are marked on the city map, and thus

visual analysis of the city development is realized.

In the final section, it is showed results of study according to all of evaluations and

surveys.
